About EDTP
EDTP is the Education Development & Training Programme: a community-based child protection organisation working within the legal framework of the Children’s Act.
We provide child protection services to abused and vulnerable children and their families, using thoughtful intervention strategies to help secure a better life for children in need.
Who we reach

Child protection support for children who need safety, consistency and care.
Practical help for disadvantaged, poor and marginalised families.
Support that helps children attend, settle into and benefit from school.
Meaningful steps toward a stable, safe and sustainable home environment.
Our story

EDTP House is currently supporting a family with two parents and five children. The father is employed, yet the family is under significant financial pressure.
Without a vehicle, and while both parents work toward obtaining their driver’s licences, the family is building a more stable path forward.
EDTP’s role is to walk alongside them toward a home environment that is safe, sustainable and full of possibility - protecting the family’s privacy while keeping the focus on progress.

“A bed of their own. A school to belong to. A home where the future can be imagined.”
EDTP’s work centres stability, family, education, safety and opportunity.A practical transformation
A garage became a study - a safe, purposeful learning space that supports children’s development.

It’s a fresh start
All of the children are now safely under one roof, each with their own bed and, most importantly, attending Durban North College.
For this family, this is more than a school placement. It is a new beginning: stability, dignity, opportunity and hope.
“This is more than a school placement. It is a new beginning.”
DNC helped the children settle in with school clothes, school needs and emotional support - a kindness that has helped them feel included, supported and ready to grow.
